Two years countdown to delivery of 'Astute' submarine celebrated today
Today, 31st August, is an important day for the Royal Navy’s ‘Astute’ attack submarine programme. On 31st August 2008, in just 2 years time, the Royal Navy will receive its first new attack submarine since delivery of the Trafalgar class HMS Triumph on 12th October 1991, seventeen years ago.

American sub experts leave yard in shipshape condition
American nuclear sub engineers, build strategists, and draughtsmen from the Electric Boat Company in the US were called in four years ago to help BAE's own engineers uinscramble a mire of delays and problems on the Astute class nuclear submarine.
